Wine region: Podravje / Stajerska ( Styria) – on the Border with Austria / Slovenia

Size of vineyards: 8 ha

Grape varieties: Rhein Riesling, Welsch Riesling, Sivi Pinot(Pinot Gris), Rumeni Muškat (Gelber Muscat), Sipon (Furmint), Sauvignon blanc, Blaufrankisch 

Philosophy:  He grows wine just like his grandfather,  respecting the territory and the local grape varieties. Following organic and biodynamic principles.

Winemaker: Matija Zerjav

Matija Žerjav or Matic represents what the Štajerska wine region needs for the future: awakening. Stil he is fully respecting the territory that he inherited from his parents a couple of years ago. He is adding freshness and a bit of an experimental way to wine making. A bit of Rock’n’Roll that is much needed. All of his wines reflect acidity, freshness and revival. 

The approach in the vineyard is very important for him, respecting the territory and the local grape varieties.

He grows wine just like his grandfather, who owned a few fields back in the day. Matija, aka Matic, works according to organic and biodynamic principles, not because he wants to follow any trends, but because he believes he brings out the best in his wines.
